Temporarily impersonate the configured Client role inside a specific project. When active, you see exactly what a real client sees — no more, no less. A real database role swap, not a CSS trick.
Actual database role impersonation — not CSS hacks. You see precisely what the client sees.
Bypasses Redmine's admin override, so even administrators get the true client view.
All private notes are hidden in Client Mode — including the author's own — for a clean client view.
Always-visible exit in the top menu, plus crash-safe auto-restore of original roles on reboot.
Client Mode lets any permitted project member or administrator temporarily impersonate the configured Client role inside a specific project. When activated, the membership role is swapped to the Client Mode role in the database — so restricted fields, hidden private notes, and internal buttons all behave exactly as they would for a real client.
For admin users, the plugin saves all original roles plus the admin flag, then sets admin = false — so the admin sees a 100% client view with no admin bypass. Clicking the toggle off, or using Emergency Exit, restores original roles and the admin flag fully.
If you ever get stuck — say the Client role can't view issues — an Exit Client Mode link is always available in the top navigation bar. And if Redmine restarts while Client Mode is active, the plugin automatically restores original roles and admin flags for all affected users on the next boot.
